UPDATE: November 9th 2023
As I reflect on this blog post from 2013 in the context of the current year, 2023, the journey evokes a sense of pride and accomplishment, particularly when considering the growth of Zokah Photo and Video Inc. Nostalgia isn't always a comfortable experience, but in our case, it not bad at all.
Back in 2013, we launched Zokah Photo and Video, journeying into the realm of wedding photography and video. Having previously worked in television, the transition proved to be remarkably smooth. Armed with a clear vision for the kind of films I aspired to create, the early days were filled with a sense of excitement and anticipation.
One standout moment in this journey was the production of Kristen and Tyrell's wedding film in Jasper, Alberta. The picturesque mountaintop setting during a Canadian winter posed its own set of challenges. In an era where cameras lacked the exceptional low-light capabilities we enjoy today, I had to navigate the complexities by renting a c500. Looking back, I can confidently say that overcoming those obstacles was pivotal in shaping Zokah's trajectory.
The significance of those early experiences resonates even more today as I marvel at the thriving entity that Zokah has become. Establishing this company was a labour of love, and this moment serves as a poignant reminder of our humble beginnings. I am genuinely grateful for the journey that brought us to where we are now.

This was one of the most beautiful weddings I've ever had the pleasure of recording. It was my first in Jasper National Park, my first ceremony on the side of a mountain, and my first ceremony after sunset. All of these elements brought new challenges and we came out on top. I had to rent a C500 to deal with the low light elements and I had the camera rigged up with waterproof hunting jackets to deal with the snow. The video turned out fantastically and I hope you enjoy it.
